STORM: Ethical Hacking Intermediate Skills is an EC-Council advanced workshop designed to build practical cybersecurity and ethical hacking capabilities using the STORM Mobile Security Toolkit. The course covers wireless security, ICS security, malware analysis, intrusion analysis, deception, and advanced STORM applications.
You will learn how to work with advanced STORM capabilities, explore ethical hacking methodologies, wireless security, ICS and Modbus security concepts, malware analysis, intrusion analysis, cyber deception, and advanced security applications.
It is not intended as a first cybersecurity course. Participants should have foundational knowledge of networking, cybersecurity, and ethical hacking. Previous experience with STORM Core Skills or similar ethical hacking training is recommended.
Yes. One of the distinguishing areas of the course is ICS security, including assessment concepts related to the Modbus protocol. EC-Council specifically highlights Modbus assessment and understanding registers and coils as part of the intermediate STORM training.
Yes. The course includes basic malware analysis as one of its dedicated modules. Learners explore malware concepts and analysis approaches as part of the broader security investigation and threat analysis curriculum.
The Gale Force 10 expansion extends the STORM platform with additional capabilities and hardware for portable security operations. EC-Council describes capabilities including extended wireless and radio tools, packet sniffing, drone detection, additional devices, and options for isolating testing networks.
The STORM Intermediate Skills workshop is a specialized training program, and EC-Council's current course page does not specify a standalone certification examination for it. Applicable EC-Council training packages may include course completion credentials and lab access, while certification exams are separately identified where applicable.
Yes, when used with explicit authorization. The tools included with STORM are powerful security-testing tools and must only be used against systems and networks where the tester has permission. EC-Council explicitly warns that unauthorized penetration testing can be illegal.
STORM Core Skills establishes foundational capabilities such as STORM setup, network traffic analysis, hacking concepts, and ethical hacking methodology. STORM Intermediate Skills builds on those foundations with more advanced areas including ICS security, Wi-Fi security, malware analysis, intrusion analysis, deception, AI applications, and advanced STORM capabilities. EC-Council lists both as separate Mobile Security Toolkit courses.
