The Associate Cloud Engineer certification validates foundational technical skills for deploying, securing, monitoring, and maintaining applications and infrastructure on Google Cloud. It is designed for professionals who work with cloud environments and need practical Google Cloud administration capabilities.
The certification has no formal prerequisites, but it is more technically focused than the Google Cloud Digital Leader certification. Google recommends gaining at least 6 months of hands-on Google Cloud experience before attempting the exam.
You will learn how to configure cloud environments, deploy compute and storage resources, manage networking, implement IAM and security controls, monitor workloads, troubleshoot cloud services, and maintain scalable Google Cloud solutions.
The training can include core services such as Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Run, App Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, VPC, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, IAM, Cloud VPN, and Cloud Interconnect.
The certification can support career paths such as Cloud Engineer, Google Cloud Administrator, Cloud Support Engineer, Cloud Operations Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, DevOps Engineer, and Cloud Systems Administrator. Google describes the role as responsible for deploying and securing applications, services, and infrastructure, monitoring operations, and maintaining enterprise solutions.
