The course focuses on enterprise analytics assets including lakehouses, warehouses, eventhouses, and semantic models. Learners also work with the dataflows, notebooks, T-SQL, and lifecycle-management capabilities used to build and manage these assets.
Both are important. Microsoft expects candidates to be able to query and analyze data using SQL, KQL, and DAX, while the current certification objectives include DAX variables and functions, iterators, table filtering, windowing, information functions, and other semantic-model calculations.
Yes. Direct Lake is an important part of the current DP-600 skills measured. Candidates should understand Direct Lake configuration, fallback and refresh behavior, and when to use Direct Lake on OneLake versus Direct Lake on the SQL analytics endpoint.
Yes. The current certification objectives include workspace-level and item-level access controls, row-, column-, object-, and file-level security, sensitivity labels, and endorsement. The course also covers analytics lifecycle controls such as version control, deployment pipelines, impact analysis, and XMLA-based semantic-model management.
Not ideally. Microsoft classifies the course as Advanced and expects learners to already have experience in data modeling, transformation, and analytics. Experience with SQL or DAX and building Power BI semantic models and reports is recommended.
