CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) is an ISACA certification focused on information systems auditing, IT governance, risk, controls, information security, and business resilience. It is designed to validate professionals' ability to assess and manage risks and controls within IT environments.
CISA is primarily designed around professional IT audit, control, assurance, and security practices. While candidates can take the exam without first meeting the experience requirement, gaining practical exposure to IT, auditing, risk, controls, or security can make the certification preparation more effective.
ISACA requires five or more years of professional information systems auditing, control, or security work experience for full CISA certification. Candidates have five years from passing the exam to submit their certification application.
CISA can support career development in IT audit, information systems assurance, IT risk, governance, compliance, internal audit, information security, and IT controls. The credential is particularly relevant to professionals responsible for assessing whether information systems are adequately governed, controlled, secure, and aligned with organizational objectives.
